This past Tuesday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) took into custody Daniel Alejandro Tristan-Guerra, a Mexican national with a criminal record, following his conviction for invasive visual recording. According to ICE, Tristan-Guerra, 28, was arrested in Hallettsville and was subsequently detained at the Victoria County Jail.
ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Houston, alongside local law enforcement partners, were responsible for the arrest. "The residents in Southeast Texas can rest easier today knowing this predator has been removed from the community," stated Chad Plantz, Special Agent in Charge at ICE HSI Houston. The safety of the public was emphasized, as the apprehension was carried out when Tristan-Guerra's "guard was down," minimizing any potential threat, he said.
Tristan-Guerra’s conviction on August 23, 2021, stems from two counts of invasive visual recording in a bathroom. This case was investigated by ICE HSI Houston and the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office, highlighting the collaborative effort between federal and local agencies to combat such privacy violations.
ICE HSI Houston continues its vigilant efforts in Southeast Texas to tackle transnational crimes and protect the community from individuals like Tristan-Guerra. For updates on their activities, the public can follow their efforts on social media platform X at @HSIHouston, the agency suggests.
