A 19-year-old Illinois man faces charges related to the fatal shooting of a teenager outside the United Center at a Lil Durk concert last fall. Deron Wolfe is set to initially appear in court this Monday on accusations of murder - other forcible felony and armed robbery. The shooting, which took place on October 20, 2024, claimed the life of Jesse Kendall, an 18-year-old student from Elgin, as he was walking to the concert with friends, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Wolfe, hailing from Rantoul, Illinois, was pinpointed as an alleged participant in the attack that occurred in the 100 block of N. Wolcott Avenue, where Kendall was fatally shot. The incident also included Wolfe allegedly robbing a 17-year-old girl accompanying Kendall. Police revealed that the charges also stem from the armed robbery involvement, as reported by FOX 32 Chicago.
Kendall was a beloved senior at Elgin High School, described by his brother Thomas Kendall as "the most honorable kid you could ever meet." "Love your loved ones," Thomas Kendall told FOX 32 Chicago. "You don't know what could happen in a split second. You know, the little kid was my best friend, my little brother. He was 18. We did everything together." Kendall remembered for his love of auto mechanics and his dedication to his family, was looking forward to graduating and pursuing a college degree in automotives. In the days that followed his death, counselors offered support at his high school.
