In observance of Presidents’ Day, a majority of the City of Las Cruces offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 17. As reported by the City of Las Cruces, emergency services including police and fire departments will maintain their usual operations despite the holiday.

Facilities that will be taking the day off include A Fielder Memorial Safe Haven, City Hall, and a variety of community centers and museums. The Las Cruces Public Libraries, Senior Programs facilities, and several other city offices will also pause in honor of the holiday. These closures remind us that while we celebrate the leadership of our nation's history, the rhythm of the modern world necessitates brief interruptions in the provision of certain public services.

Not all services will be suspended, however. According to the City of Las Cruces, solid waste services will operate as usual, including both residential and commercial collection on Monday. The Foothills Landfill and the South Central Solid Waste Authority administrative offices will also be abuzz with activity, servicing the community's needs without interruption.

RoadRUNNER Transit and Dial-A-Ride services will stick to their regular hours, from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., ensuring residents can navigate the city. Recycling services will continue as normal, with the Amador Transfer Station and Corralitos Landfill open for business. These ongoing services function as a subtle reminder that even as we take a moment to reflect on past leadership, the present demands consistent attention and care for the community's well-being.
