The digital age waits for no one, and Las Cruces Public Libraries is stepping up to bridge the divide with an offering of free computer literacy classes slated for March at both the Munson Senior Center and the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library. The classes cover a range of topics from operating systems like Windows 11 and Apple's MacOS to internet savvy and email etiquette, providing essential tech know-how for adults seeking to bolster their digital prowess, according to the City of Las Cruces.

Demystification begins in Meeting Room 3 of Munson Senior Center every Monday from 10 a.m. to noon, starting on March 3, with a session on Basic Computer Skills, shortly after, March 10 dares to untangle the intricacies of Internet Basics and Safety, and come March 17, Email Basics lays out the communication lifelines in the digital sea, while the month rounds out on March 24 with a Windows 11 Basics class, and finally, an iPad oriented class on March 31, which promises insight into nearly everything an iPad is capable of.

Over at Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, the techno-training continues on Tuesdays from 2 – 4 p.m., in the Computer Training Classroom on the second floor beginning March 4 with MacBook Basics for all the Apple aficionados out there, this library also caters to those seeking Windows navigational skills on March 11 and to those aiming to strengthen their internet savvy on March 18, not to mention it concludes with a dive into digital file and photo management on March 25.

For Las Crucians inclined towards these informative sessions, they need not trouble themselves with registration as attendance operates on a first-come, first-served basis, while laptops are provided, it's noted that quantities are finite, however, attendees maintain the option to bring their own. Information on these literate leap forwards can be attained through contacting Vicki Simkins at 575-528-4002 or emailing [email protected], with alternative formatting for documents available, and accommodations for disabilities can be made with a heads up at least 48 hours before the classes.
