The Lynn community has been shaken by the death of restaurant owner Ilias Mavros, whose life was abruptly ended in what is being investigated as a homicide. Mavros, the owner of Crazy Buzzy's Roast Beef and Seafood, was found deceased in his home with signs of trauma on Monday night. The Lynn Police Department responded to a wellness check initiated by his family and pronounced him dead at the scene, according to a report by CBS News Boston.
George Fiskatoris, Mavros' nephew and a part of the team at Crazy Buzzy's, has stepped up to honor his uncle's legacy. "His humor, just like his comradery with the guys in the back," Fiskatoris said, reflecting on Mavros' character and dedication. Despite the restaurant's recent opening and experiencing the harsh blow of its owner's death, Mavros' family and staff are determined to maintain the business as a homage to his memory. George told CBS News Boston, "We have just got to carry the torch and keep moving on."
Details surrounding Mavros' death remain scarce as detectives are currently reviewing phone records and retracing his activities in the last 24-48 hours. As conveyed by sources from the WBZ I-Team, no suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the case, and the investigation is active and ongoing.
Reflecting on his last encounter with Mavros, Fiskatoris shared with WHDH News his disbelief over the situation. "It doesn’t feel real right now, to be honest," he said, emphasizing the emotional toll of his uncle not just as a relative, but a confidant: "He wasn’t just my uncle, he was my friend." Committed to preserving the restaurant’s success and living up to his uncle’s vision, George intends to secure Crazy Buzzy’s future. "I think he wouldn’t wat us to stop running the restaurant," he explained, "So, we’re going to keep going for him."
