Man Charged with Aggravated Robbery and Evading Arrest After North Knoxville Hardee's Incident

Knoxville Police Department officers have arrested 46-year-old David Covington following an early morning robbery at a North Knoxville Hardee's yesterday. The incident occurred just after 5:00 a.m. at the fast-food restaurant located at 67600 Clinton Highway, where Covington allegedly went behind the counter, implied he had a weapon, and took money from the register, WVLT reports.

Shortly after the alleged robbery, officers identified the suspect's vehicle, an older model Chevy truck, at the intersection of Merchant Drive and Pleasant Ridge Road, according to WBIR, officers attempted to pull the truck over, the truck didn't stop and a pursuit ensued, the pursuit ended when Covington abandoned the truck and attempted to flee on foot.

Following a short foot chase, police took Covington into custody and have now charged him with aggravated robbery and felony evading arrest, WIVK confirms. Eyewitnesses at the scene informed the police that the suspect had entered the Hardee's, took cash, and then quickly left the scene in the aforementioned truck before police intervention.
