Action News 5 reports that Memphis Police Department (MPD) responded to the incident just before 5 a.m. near Peres Avenue and N Hollywood Street. On arrival, they discovered the victims and immediately transported them to the hospital, where the woman was listed in non-critical condition, but the man later succumbed to his injuries.

Details from FOX13 outline a drive-by shooting where the male and female victims, walking in the Hollywood neighborhood, fell prey to shots fired from a dark-colored sedan. Police arrived at the intersection of Harrison Street and Peres Avenue around 4:45 a.m., confirming the timeline of the tragic event. The surrounding area was quickly cordoned off, with crime tape evidencing an active police scene there.

Further investigation is in progress, and MPD has not yet released information regarding a possible suspect or motive behind the shooting. The identity of the deceased man has not been publicly disclosed pending notification of next of kin. The condition of the injured woman, fortunately, remains stable, and she is expected to make a recovery.
