Two men from Manchester, Georgia, have been arrested in connection with an arson investigation in Talbot County. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Jimmy Buchanan, 70, and Wallace Copland, 62, are facing two counts of arson and one count of conspiracy to commit arson. The GBI, working alongside local law enforcement agencies, took the suspects into custody without incident yesterday.
The investigation that led to these arrests began over a year ago on November 6, 2023. The Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire sought help from the GBI to look into an arson case involving a residence in Shilo, a small community in Talbot County. The GBI's press release indicates that the operation also included the assistance of various local departments such as Manchester Police Department, Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office, and Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Following the arrests, Buchanan and Copeland were booked into the Harris County Jail. The case, however, is far from closed. The investigation remains active with the possibility of additional charges to be leveled. The authorities are actively seeking further information from the public.
