Maricopa's Spring 2025 Sports Recreation Leagues are approaching, and volunteer coaches are needed. Experience is not necessary—just a passion for sports, an ability to teach basic skills, and a desire to help guide youth athletes. Volunteers will have the opportunity to assist with coaching soccer and basketball teams, supporting local youth development, according to the City of Maricopa.
Coaches will receive benefits such as free player registration for their child, ensuring a spot on the team with priority on the waitlist. A coach kit will also be provided, containing resources for running basic practices. The commitment includes one practice and one game per week, with the TeamSideline app available to assist with communication and team management. Additionally, there is a support team available to assist coaches as needed.
If you're still uncertain, consider the perspective of Matthew Reiter, who oversees Athletics Operations. In a recent city announcement, he mentioned, "Our coaches are truly an inspiration to our kids. It is so important for them to have good role models when playing sports. Their guidance and dedication imparts a positive growth mindset which, in turn, promotes kinds and compassion. Investing only a little time can have such a beneficial impact on our youth cannot be measured. Positive coaching could be the one thing that helps reconnect our children to a brighter future."
