Maricopa’s 21st State of the City address highlighted record infrastructure investments, upcoming job opportunities, and recognition of community leaders.. In a recent article by City of Maricopa, it was outlined that Mayor Nancy Smith has heralded a period of significant investment in the city's infrastructure, emphasizing projects such as road preservation and a major renovation of the Smith-Enke intersection.

For the commuter crowd, Maricopa is setting its sights on reducing travel times to Phoenix or Chandler. Finally recognizing it's time to grow from within, the Industrial Triangle Project is set to create nearly 36,000 new jobs, right on Maricopa turf. The project aims to establish Maricopa as a thriving hub for both careers and community life. The address also celebrated Maricopa’s standout citizens, recognizing contributors to initiatives like Kids Day Maricopa, Maricopa Pickleball League, and 347Facts.com, as per the City of Maricopa.

In remembrance of Mike Riggs, the city posthumously honored his community contributions with the Mike Riggs Award. This year, the accolade went to Chris Leon, a high school football coach and youth pastor, whose unassuming dedication to helping others was duly celebrated. “He was often working in the background, not hoping to be recognized,” the City of Maricopa conveyed.

For those who missed the live event, the entire State of the City address is available for viewing on the city's official website.
