Medford Alert, Road Closures and Delays Expected as Utility and Construction Projects BeginSource: Unsplash/ Sandy Millar

Brace for a spring season of rerouting and potential delays, as lane and road closures hit the streets of Medford starting this week. According to a release from the city, a variety of utility and construction projects are set to span from tomorrow to April 16, 2025. To keep our commutes from turning chaotic, here's a rundown of what to expect on the roads during these dates.

East McAndrews Road will see intermittent westbound right lane closures from Oleander Street to Wabash Avenue until March 5th, due to Summit Solutions' installation of a 5G small wireless facility for US Cellular. Hunter Communications will also be causing disturbances along Riverside Avenue, between East Jackson and Austin Street, as they work on new overhead fiber lines until the end of March. For more detailed information on these and other projects, including specific timing and affected street segments, residents and travelers can head to the city's official website or click on this link to learn more.

West Main Street, from Kenwood Avenue to Western Avenue, will have westbound traffic shifted into the center lane until next Tuesday, courtesy of Hydromax USA's inspection of public utilities on behalf of Avista Utilities. Further east, Summit Solutions will replicate their 5G work along East McAndrews Road between Valley View Drive and Bonita Avenue until March 15.

Moving to East Barnett Road, Asplundh Tree Experts will be removing vegetation from power lines for Pacific Power and Light, necessitating the closure of the right westbound lane between Alder Creek Drive and Medical Center Drive till next Friday. This is part and parcel of a larger effort by Asplundh across multiple locations, including Murphy Drive and other stretches along East Barnett Road, to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of electric services.

Developments are underway on Merriman Avenue as well. From De Barr Avenue to Midway Road, there will be intermittent alternating right lane closures to accommodate utility and public improvement installations by Ausland Group and Brittania Enterprises for a new commercial development, which are projected to last until April 16.
