Memphis authorities have issued a warrant for Artavius Lipsey, 26, accused of hitting the mother of his child and fleeing with their 6-year-old daughter, Allyson. The incident occurred early Friday morning when he allegedly punched the victim and took the child. Police issued a city watch, which was later canceled after Allyson was found safe, according to ActionNews5.
"The suspect is still on the run," Memphis Police said, after an altercation in which Lipsey took his daughter while the victim was inflating her car tires. He allegedly grabbed the victim's car keys, removed their son, and drove off with their daughter, though he was armed with two guns, he did not use them. Shortly after, Lipsey contacted the child's uncle, asking him to return the car and child because he "did not want to get a kidnap charge." Authorities later confirmed, "The child was checked out and no injuries were reported," as reported by Local Memphis.
The Memphis Police Department filed a domestic violence hold harmless report after the incident, but the victim declined relocation, according to the victim's mother. Artavius Lipsey faces charges including custodial interference, theft, carjacking, and domestic assault, as per FOX13 Memphis. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeve blue shirt, black jeans, red boxer briefs, and blue house shoes, with a high-top fade haircut and multiple tattoos.
