A tragic event unfolded this morning on I-480 when a 28-year-old man from Mentor died in a vehicular collision. The crash occurred just before 1 a.m. westbound, near North Ridgeville's east city limits. According to Cleveland19, the driver lost control and veered off the right side of the road, colliding with a disabled semi-truck.
The identity of the victim has not been released as investigations continue. North Ridgeville Police stated that their Crash Investigation Unit and the Lorain County Coroner's Office are working jointly on the case. The scene, depicted in images obtained by FOX8, showed the car lodged almost entirely under the semi's trailer, indicating the impact's severity. Several lanes remained blocked following the incident, but no other injuries have been reported.
Officials from both North Ridgeville Police Department and Ohio State Highway Patrol were present at the scene. As per WKYC, it was "determined that a single vehicle left the right side of the roadway and struck a disabled semi truck."
