An 18-year-old named Amari Magdaleno was found lifeless in a canal in Mesa, with local authorities suspecting intoxication as a possible factor leading to the incident. According to ABC15, Magdaleno was discovered last Saturday morning face up and partially submerged in an irrigation ditch near Stapley Drive and Brown Road.
Emergency responders transported the teen to a hospital for treatment, but despite their efforts, Magdaleno was later pronounced dead. Mesa police are working to reconstruct the events leading to Magdaleno's death, carefully investigating whether it was an accident or potentially a crime, while currently ruling out foul play, 12News reported.
The police have not yet concluded their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding Magdaleno's death. Witnesses have provided accounts that are being carefully reviewed as authorities work to understand the events fully.
Mesa Police have stated that while they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the teen's death, there is no evidence suggesting criminal intent or malice at this time.
