As Miami-Dade looks to deepen its engagement with Black History Month, a significant panel discussion is on the horizon, addressing the theme of economic justice within the Black community. Commissioner Marleine Bastien and the Miami-Dade Economic Advisory Trust (MDEAT) are setting the stage for important conversations to unfold with the event "Forging Our Own Path: Skills, Enterprise, & the Black Pursuit of Economic Justice." According to a recent announcement, the panel aims to delve into the specific challenges and possibilities that surround Black economic empowerment, focusing on creating pathways to sustainable success and financial independence.

The discussion, moderated by G. Eric Knowles, President & CEO of the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce, will see participation from various industry leaders and entrepreneurs, including Michaeljohn Green from Miami Downtown Development Authority (Miami DDA) and Noelle Jackson, the founder of Office Logic. Other prominent voices like Beatrice Louissaint, President of the Florida State Minority Supplier Development Council, and Ramona Hall, CEO of Phillips Concessions, will join the panel. Together, they are slated to discuss, as the Miami-Dade advisory states, "how to break down barriers and build sustainable success, essential skills, and the journey toward financial independence."

The event will take place on Thursday, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and will be hosted at the Miami Dade College North Campus. Those in attendance will have a chance to engage with the panelists through a Q&A session, making it an interactive opportunity to contribute to the dialogue on working towards a more equitable economic future.

This initiative has also gained backing from Miami Dade College, which has partnered with the event for production and venue support. Those interested in participating in the dialogue or just listening in can RSVP via bit.ly/MDEATevents, as per the event’s webpage, as mentioned on the Miami-Dade County website.
