Yesterday's Presidents' Day brought waves of demonstrators to Miami's downtown, where a determined crowd of around 80 people united in protest against recent executive orders issued by President Donald Trump and the ever-increasing influence of tech mogul Elon Musk in governmental dealings. According to Miami New Times, protestors converged at the Torch of Friendship monument, voicing their discontent in the shadow of Biscayne Boulevard.
Chants filled the air, an orchestra of dissent echoing "Trump, Trump, go to hell. The U.S. is not for sale," and "No Trump; No KKK; no fascist USA," as they brandished signs and banners to make their messages heard. Their grievances broadly spanned issues from reproductive rights to immigration policy, the overreach of executive power, LGBTQ rights, and accusations of fascism. Meanwhile, on a nearby street, the Florida Grassroots Coalition mobilized another group of about forty people seemingly to also put on display their opposition, as per Miami New Times.
Nationwide, the Presidents' Day demonstrations formed part of the 50501 (Fifty-Fifty-One) protests, a grassroots response to the Trump administration seemingly gathering momentum. Photos from these collective actions, showcasing protestors in various states, were featured on USA Today.
