Miami Youth Basketball Coach Charged with Sexual Misconduct Involving 10-Year-Old BoySource: Miami-Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation

A Miami youth basketball coach is facing multiple charges after being accused of engaging in sexual misconduct with a 10-year-old boy. The coach, identified as Charles Williams, 26, allegedly sent a series of inappropriate and sexually explicit messages to the boy, asking for photos of the boy's genitalia in exchange for an electric scooter.

The disturbing allegations came to light when the victim’s older brother stumbled upon the messages on the child’s phone while the boy was asleep. Upon this discovery, the family reported the incident to the Miami Police Department. According to Local 10 News, Williams used phrases like “Lemme see da chicken,” in reference to the child’s genitalia.

Further investigation by the Miami Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit revealed that Williams had not only exchanged messages with the victim but had also engaged in FaceTime calls where he exposed himself, as detailed in an arrest report. The boy purportedly ended the call out of fear after Williams showed his private parts. NBC Miami reports that Williams additionally sent the young victim a pornographic video, instructing him on how to delete the evidence from his phone.

The victim initially met Williams through a 14-year-old friend at another community center, suggesting that Williams used his position to gain the trust of young individuals. At the time of his arrest, Williams was on probation for a fraud case out of Palm Beach County. "Williams was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond," according to the report by Local 10 News.

The charges against Williams include lewd and lascivious exhibition on a child under 16, electronic transmission harmful to minors in the state, promoting sexual performance by a child, and tampering with an informant.
