Morehouse College, an Atlanta HBCU, recently celebrated its 158th anniversary with a focus on both its history and future advancements. As noted in the Founder's Day Convocation 2025 program, the college marked this milestone by beginning construction on a new residence hall as part of the Campus of the Future Construction Initiative, aimed at revitalizing a historic space for leadership and learning.

FOX 5 Atlanta reported that the construction ceremony this afternoon celebrated the start of a new campus center and residence hall, which is the first new construction project at Morehouse since 2010. The college’s modernization efforts are expected to continue in line with its long-standing commitment to student development and empowerment.

Morehouse President David A. Thomas, Ph.D., also announced new funding for the construction.

The college is moving forward with fundraising for a new 58,000-square-foot campus center, which will serve as the heart of student intellectual and creative activities. The center is part of the "Making Men of Consequence" campaign launched in 2022, which has raised approximately $320 million to improve facilities and enhance the educational experience, as per the FOX 5 Atlanta report.
