Multi-City Chase in East Bay Concludes with Suspect's Arrest for Evading and DUI ChargesSource: East Bay Regional Park District Police Department

Last Friday, a regular traffic stop turned into a dramatic pursuit spanning multiple cities and involving several law enforcement agencies around the East Bay. The chase began at Coyote Hills Regional Park when an individual refused to stop for the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department (EBRPD). The incident quickly escalated as the driver fled, leading the officer to call off the chase due to safety concerns and obtain a court order for the vehicle instead.

The pursuit resumed yesterday when authorities from the San Ramon Police Department attempted to stop the same suspect for yet another traffic violation. According to a social media post by the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department, the driver again fled, dragging the California Highway Patrol (CHP) into a high-speed chase that snaked from Interstate 680 Southbound through the streets of Hayward and Union City. The suspect eluded Union City PD and eventually went onto Interstate 880, where EBRPD's Helicopter and Emergency Tactical Air Support (H.E.A.T.) team located him and attempted to intervene.

EBRPD deployed tire deflation devices near the driver’s home on a Hayward off-ramp to stop the vehicle. Despite the impediment, the suspect continued to his residence. Ground units, assisted by EBRPD's Air Support Unit and Drone Team, converged on the location. After nearly two hours of negotiations and de-escalation techniques, the suspect finally surrendered to the authorities without further incident.
