Nashville Police Nab 20-Year-Old Suspect in Series of Car Burglaries and School Break-InSource: Metropolitan Nashville Police Department

East Precinct officers arrested 20-year-old Tonderius Sanchez Jones late Thursday night for a series of car burglaries and a school break-in. Previously out on bond, he now faces multiple charges, according to the Nashville Police Department.

A woman called the police after chasing a man who broke into her car, but he escaped in the 500 block of Summer Place. The suspect, Jones, was later linked to car break-ins on Lenore Street and a burglary at Explore Community School on S. 7th Street, where security footage captured him before he fled. Previously out on a $30,000 bond, he was later spotted on Shelby Avenue. When officers approached, he tried to run but "didn’t get far," as reported by the Nashville Police Department.

Jones was arrested for multiple burglaries and assaulting a police officer. According to authorities, he kicked an officer and made threats against their families. A search of his backpack revealed broken glass from car windows, a window punch tool, cash, six cell phones, a ski mask, and multiple credit cards belonging to different individuals. The Nashville government confirmed that "evidence shows Jones was responsible." He is charged with seven counts of vehicle burglary, one count of school burglary, assaulting an officer, resisting arrest, evading arrest, and making threats of retaliation, as stated by the Nashville Police Department.
