Nashville Robbery Leads to Fatal Car Crash, Convicted Felon ChargedSource: Nashville.gov

A series of events at Green Hills Mall involved a robbery, a car crash, and a fatality, leading to charges against the deceased's accomplice, Nashville authorities reported. Omari Moore, 30, a convicted felon, is charged with aggravated robbery and unlawful gun possession in connection with the robbery of a shopper carrying high-end merchandise. The charges are elevated due to Moore's status as a convicted felon.

The Nashville Police report that the series of incidents began when the victim, recently returning from a shopping trip, was approached by Moore in the parking lot. A struggle occurred when Moore, reportedly carrying a pistol with an extended magazine, stole Louis Vuitton bags from the victim. Moore managed to take the bags and flee to a waiting Tesla sedan. After the altercation, the victim, whose identity has not been released, threw what appeared to be the extended magazine from the gun at the fleeing vehicle. Police later recovered the magazine and shell casings from the scene.

The escape took a turn when the Tesla, driven by an unidentified 30-year-old Nashville man, crashed into a tree off the I-65 north entrance ramp from I-440. The driver was later found to have been shot and died from his injuries at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, as stated in an official release from Nashville.gov. Following the crash, Moore was reportedly seen near a guardrail, and a pistol, missing its magazine, was found across the same guardrail by law enforcement.

Moore has not provided a clear explanation for the events, stating that he is unaware of when or how the driver sustained the fatal gunshot and has not disclosed their prior whereabouts. The ongoing investigation is working to clarify the details and is encouraging the victim of the robbery to come forward and assist with the case, according to Nashville police. Moore’s criminal history in Nashville includes convictions for burglary and felony theft as recently as 2022, along with additional charges from Henderson County, indicating prior interactions with the justice system and the seriousness of his current legal situation.
