A Nashville teen is facing multiple charges after police say he was involved in a high-speed drag race over the weekend. Brayden Hoffman, 19, was arrested after being clocked at speeds exceeding 120 mph on Interstate 40 West last Saturday night.
According to WSMV, Hoffman tried to evade a traffic stop initiated by Metro Nashville Police Department officers before being pursued and later apprehended; he also allegedly drove on the left shoulder to bypass other vehicles in his Audi. In a separate report by FOX 17, it was confirmed that a small amount of marijuana and a pipe were discovered during a search of Hoffman's vehicle post-arrest.
The arrest was part of the department's Street Racing Initiative, aimed at curbing illegal racing activities in the area. Metro police aviation assets were utilized during the chase, helping ground units to successfully stop Hoffman on Murfreesboro Pike at Pin Hook Road, as mentioned in a statement from the WKRN coverage of the incident.
Hoffman is charged with evading arrest, drag racing, drug possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Authorities confirmed the charges and set his bond at $34,000. He was released on bond yesterday.
