New Orleans drivers, be aware: lane closures will affect Eastbound and Westbound I-10 starting Monday, February 24, due to construction surveys. The Louisiana DOTD announced that work will begin at 9:30 PM Monday and continue intermittently over the following days, affecting different sections of the highway.
Commuters utilizing Eastbound I-10 from I-610 to US 90 (Chef Menteur Highway) should expect a left lane closure on Monday night, with the right lane scheduled to close the following night on Tuesday. The on-ramp at Louisa Street will also be subject to intermittent closures on Tuesday, as per a statement on the DOTD website.
For those navigating Eastbound I-10, alternate routes are suggested. The I-10 east ramp at US 90 (Chef Menteur Highway) can be used instead of the usual on and off-ramps. Work on Westbound lanes doesn't let up, with right lane closures between Dwyer Road and Louisa Street on Wednesday and left lane closures the following day. These Westbound surveys will warrant intermittent ramp closures as well and again, alternative routes are available with the west ramp at Louisa Street and at US 90 (Chef Menteur Highway) serving as substitutes.
All scheduled work is subject to weather conditions and may be rescheduled in case of inclement weather. DOTD urges drivers to exercise caution, stating, "please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment."
