The New Orleans Police Department has released its latest batch of crime statistics, covering the period of February 9-13. The preliminary figures, highlighting the city's crime rates, were shared in a recent report compiled by the New Orleans Police Department Analytics Unit, and are being scrutinized for patterns and insights into the city's safety landscape.

The New Orleans Police Department recently made two important arrests. Elijah Riggins, born May 16, 2003, was arrested by Eighth District detectives for his role in a shooting that occurred on November 30, 2024, at Canal and Carondelet streets. The second arrest was of Sterling Pepe, born May 25, 1999, who was captured with help from the U.S. Marshals and the Violent Offender Warrant Squad. He was wanted for a homicide on January 7, 2025, at Elysian Fields Avenue and North Galvez Street.

Elijah Riggins and Sterling Pepe are facing serious charges. Riggins has been charged with aggravated battery by shooting and illegal use of weapons. Pepe has been charged with second-degree murder, along with Marvin Banks, who was arrested on January 11 for the same homicide, as per the New Orleans Police Department.
