The New Orleans Police Department is actively investigating two separate yet possibly linked shootings that occurred in New Orleans East, resulting in two individuals sustaining injuries. WWLTV reports that the incidents took place on Saturday night when an Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office deputy, flagged down around 9:25 p.m., discovered two adult male victims with gunshot wounds on the 14000 block of Dwyer Boulevard. Both New Orleans Police Department and New Orleans EMS were promptly dispatched to the scene.
Subsequently, the victims were transported to a hospital and were found to have sustained gunshot wounds to their torsos. A separate investigation by the New Orleans Police Department has begun in the same vicinity involving a shooting at Tet Fest, a community event held at the Mary Queen of Vietnam Church. The connection between the shootings remains under scrutiny by law enforcement. As per an eyewitness account shared with WDSU, the second incident occurred close to the event's entrance, directly in front of one of the festival booths.
More information regarding the conditions of the injured individuals and the progress of the New Orleans Police Department investigation is anticipated. New Orleans Police Department has not released further details about potential suspects or motives in either shooting. Locals are encouraged to provide any pertinent information to the authorities. Updates will be provided as more details are confirmed and made available by the investigative teams, as per WDSU.
