The New Orleans Police Department is on the lookout for a suspect involved in the theft of a U-Haul rental van last month. The incident, which took place on January 30, occurred in the 6200 block of Chef Menteur Highway. According to a statement released by the New Orleans Police Department, the theft was reported to have happened around 11:15 a.m.

Security footage captured a man arriving on foot, who seemed to purposefully linger around the area before getting into the van and driving off along Chef Menteur Highway. The man sought by the New Orleans Police Department is described as a black male, wearing a red t-shirt adorned with gold and white lettering, a black long-sleeved shirt, black pants with multiple zippered pockets, and red and black sneakers. 

The van was later found, although details surrounding its recovery has not been made public. The New Orleans Police Department has not provided information on the condition of the vehicle upon recovery or if any items were missing from inside the van. The focus remains on apprehending the individual responsible for the vehicular theft.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to come forward, especially if they recognize the suspect’s clothing or appearance. People can contact the Seventh District detectives or CrimeStoppers. Callers can stay anonymous and may receive a cash reward if their tip leads to an arrest.
