After a diligent investigation spanning several months, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest for a jewelry theft that occurred last year at the Home Consignment Center in San Carlos. The robbery, which took place on September 25, 2024, involved three individuals who shattered the store's door, charged into the jewelry department, and used hammers to smash display cases, ultimately escaping with about $56,000 in jewelry. While the identity of the other two suspects remains unknown, 18-year-old Tyrone T. Hill of Oakland has been implicated in the crime.
Details provided by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office state that Hill was apprehended on Tuesday. The arrest culminated in a collaborative effort that included the Oakland Housing Authority Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Task Force. A search warrant execution allowed investigators to quickly discover evidence firmly to connect Hill with the September robbery.
Hill, now detained at the Maguire Correctional Facility, faces multiple charges. According to the Sheriff's Office's announcement, these counts include robbery under PC 212.5(c), burglary under PC 460(b), and grand theft under PC 487(a). The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is committed to resolving this case and actively seeks to identify and apprehend the remaining two suspects.
