Last Valentine's Day, the chase was on in Oakland as a suspect behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle led California Highway Patrol officers on a pursuit. In a detailed social media post from the CHP Oakland Area, the officers received a heads-up about a stolen gray Hyundai Elantra from a Flock safety camera. Quickly located near 90th Avenue and International Boulevard, the driver defied officers' attempts to pull the vehicle over, resulting in a chase through the streets.

Through the combined efforts of the officers, spike strips were deployed to impede the rogue vehicle's escape. Even with its tires taken out, the Hyundai's driver persisted until he could push his crippled vehicle no further down Havenscourt Boulevard. The CHP Oakland's post on Facebook detailed the conclusion, "The driver failed to yield to officers, prompting a pursuit." That pursuit ended south of Arthur Street, where officers cuffed and carted the suspect off to Santa Rita Jail.

The suspect was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, felony evading, obstruction, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of stolen property.
