An electrical fire ravaged a duplex in Oceanside yesterday, leading to significant property damage, the unfortunate demise of a pet cat, and the displacement of three residents and a dog. The fire, which took hold in the 4000 block of Aeolia Way, was reported to the Oceanside Fire Department shortly after 11:30 a.m., with fire crews responding to a neighbor's call, as per FOX5SanDiego. Upon their brisk arrival at 11:52 a.m., firefighters contained the flames, which had originated from a garage. They began creeping to its twin next door, to just the garage areas, although the adjacent living spaces suffered smoke damage.
The response from the American Red Cross was prompt, stepping in to aid those who now find themselves without a home while the fire department discovered a deceased cat and noted another as missing, as cited by the Times of San Diego. Investigators have also pointed to a breaker panel in one of the garages as the starting point for the blaze.
While the exact cause of the fire is still under professional scrutiny, preliminary findings suggest the fire's origin was a breaker panel inside the garage. According to the Oceanside Fire Department, the firefighters who battled the blaze suggest that residents review their electrical systems to prevent fires, electrocution, and the financial burden of repairs.
