In a brazen daylight incident, two men found themselves behind bars after an off-duty major from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office witnessed a dangerous confrontation on State Road 826. According to Local 10 News, the major observed 19-year-old Junior Jean Noel brandishing a rifle at the driver of a white Chevrolet Malibu from a Dodge Charger and signaling the driver to pull over.
The events unfolded Monday just before 10:30 a.m., where the major reported that the Charger, driven by Wentz Toussaint, pulled alongside the Malibu and Jean Noel pointed the rifle from the back seat while Toussaint weaved in and out of traffic in what seemed to be an attempt at an ambush. The major then requested backup while keeping both vehicles in sight; subsequently, both cars entered a BP gas station at 1201 NW 167th Street, where an altercation took place, law enforcement arrested the pair, and the Miami-Dade Sheriff's deputies discovered a purple rifle with a high-capacity magazine and a 9mm firearm during a warranted search.
Arrested at the scene, the suspects now face significant legal repercussions. Junior Jeannoel, as per NBC Miami, is charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, while his alleged accomplice, Wentz Toussaint, is charged with accessory after the fact; both were detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Tuesday afternoon. During the search, deputies not only uncovered weapons but also found 224 grams of marijuana, and $150 in cash along with two cellphones in the Charger.
Details on what prompted the aggressive pursuit are still unclear.
