WGN-TV reports that emergency services were dispatched to the area of Route 14 and Dean Street shortly before 3:15 p.m., where they discovered three vehicles had been involved, two of which were heavily damaged. Among the chaos, first responders worked both to treat the injured and to extricate those trapped within the wreckage.

Adding to the misfortune, while two other adults received hospital transport, one with critical injuries, three minors faced life-threatening trauma, necessitating evacuation. They were flown by helicopter to trauma centers.
