A deadly confrontation occurred in a Hialeah home last night, resulting in one death and two injuries. As reported by Local 10, Hialeah police responded to a shooting call around 10:30 p.m. at a home in the 3900 block of West 10th Court.
Police spokesperson Jose Torres stated that a man in his 50s was attacked with a knife, and his 16-year-old son tried to protect him, suffering multiple cuts to his arms. As the assailant attempted to leave, another individual shot and killed him. The relationship between the shooter, the assailant, and the victims remains unclear.
Neighbor Yeika Castro told Local 10, "I heard a shot, opened the door, and when I came out, a man was running. I knew something had happened because, for me, it was a kid running."
The investigation continued through the night and into this morning, with a section of the road blocked off. It was revealed that six individuals were in the home when the dispute turned violent. The teenager was taken to Nicklaus Children's Hospital and is stable, while the man in his 50s was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in critical but stable condition, according to Local 10.
A yellow tarp covered the assailant’s body before being taken to the Medical Examiner's Office. Neighbor Alberto Gonzalez described the aftermath, saying, "There was so much blood. A lot of blood on my car," in a statement obtained by WSVN. Detectives collected evidence at the scene, and that a car was towed away.
According to WSVN, the man who fired the fatal shot is in custody, but Hialeah Police have not yet clarified if charges will be filed. The police consider this an isolated incident. Neighbor Yeika Oliver Castro recalled, "Then later, I open the door again, and I saw all of the police and then I saw a man dead in the road." A friend, Jose Gonzalez, expressed his shock, calling the scene "Very traumatizing and sad at the same time," not knowing who had been killed.
