Pagedale Police Chief Anthony Huckleberry was unharmed after his vehicle was struck by gunfire on Tuesday. He stated that the shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. near Sutter Ave. and Page Ave., with a bullet hitting the driver's side passenger door of his unmarked SUV, just inches from him.
"I immediately pulled over and tried to duck for cover," Chief Huckleberry told FOX2Now after the shooting. The gunshot, described as coming from a large-caliber weapon, shattered the driver's side rear window. The incident is under investigation.
The Pagedale Police Department is investigating whether the shooting of Chief Huckleberry’s vehicle was targeted or random, working to identify suspects and the source of the shot. Despite the risks, Huckleberry remains committed to public safety, stating, "It's a good thing it happened to my vehicle, the police department's vehicle, and that’s the only thing damaged," according to First Alert 4 and KSDK.
