A tragic incident unfolded in Pittsburgh's Uptown/Bluff neighborhood at the intersection of Forbes Avenue and Pride Street, where a pedestrian has been struck and killed by a vehicle.
According to a public safety announcement published on the City of Pittsburgh's official website, emergency services were alerted to the accident just after 10:30 a.m. Upon arrival, police officers found an adult male victim who had already succumbed to his injuries. The announcement noted that EMS personnel confirmed the victim's death shortly after.
The preliminary investigation by local authorities suggests the victim might have been in peril, stumbling along the sidewalk before he tragically fell into the roadway—an occurrence which has, once again, put the spotlight on the sidewalks of the city that walk alongside the busy streets. The adult male driver stayed at the scene and cooperated fully with the police.
Detectives from the Collision Investigation Unit are currently taking charge of the case to understand the circumstances leading to the pedestrian’s fatality.
