
In a substantial drug case emerging from Phoenix, 34-year-old Miguel Angel Gaytan-Ramirez has been handed a 151-month prison sentence for his involvement in a fentanyl and cocaine trafficking operation. As reported by AZFamily, an undercover Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) operation led to the discovery of around 130 pounds of narcotics Gaytan-Ramirez stored in an apartment.
The undocumented Mexican national was arrested after a DEA agent posed as a buyer for 150,000 fentanyl pills. The transaction was supposed to occur in a Phoenix parking lot, where Gaytan-Ramirez was found waiting in a Dodge Ram. After detaining Gaytan-Ramirez, a subsequent search of the apartment he used unveiled a cache of drugs, including a rifle, 74.9 pounds of fentanyl pills, 17.6 pounds of fentanyl powder, and 41.9 pounds of cocaine, along with the confiscation of $18,000 in cash, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.
After his guilty plea to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute fentanyl in November 2024, in addition to his prison term, Gaytan-Ramirez is scheduled to have a period of supervised release after serving his sentence.
