Skeletal remains found in Cumberland County have been identified as Cody Ramsey-Dearing, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. Deputies found the remains on February 8 near the entrance of the Mount Roosevelt Wildlife Management Area on Westel Road, where Dearing was last seen in August 2022, as mentioned by WBIR.
"I sensed something was wrong, but I just had that little bit of hope that he would pop back up and would be like ‘Hey guys, I’m here. I’m just kidding; I wasn’t gone'," said Dearing's twin sister, Samantha Ramsey, in a statement to WVLT. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Cumberland County Sheriff's Office identified Ramsey-Dearing's remains. The cause of his death is still unknown.
Ramsey-Dearing was last in contact with his family on August 3, 2022, according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. He said he was going to meet someone but did not share details. His remains were later found near 1872 Westel Road, as per WATE. Ronald Harvey, Ramsey's brother, told WVLT, "Yeah, I broke down in tears after finding out it was him." The family is mourning his death and seeking information about the circumstances surrounding it.
