The Renton Police Department recently took a dangerous fugitive, Alberto Nunez, into custody thanks to a tip-off from a FOX 13 viewer that led to his location in a Burien home. As detailed by FOX 13, Nunez, a known gang member with a reputation for being armed and extremely dangerous, was discovered hiding in a closet during an operation carried out by the department’s Violent Crime Unit on Tuesday.
Nunez was on the radar of authorities for making threats against law enforcement officers and their families, which significantly raised the stakes of apprehending him. After the Crime Stoppers tip led police to the residence in Burien, the Renton Police articulated their gratitude for the community's assistance, stating, "We commend the help of our community and Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound in locating this dangerous suspect," as reported by the B-Town Blog.
Testing is currently underway to ascertain whether a firearm found at the scene belonged to the apprehended gang member. This investigative action contributes to the broader effort to piece together Nunez's recent activities and associations.
Ultimately, Nunez was booked into the King County Jail on charges that included assault and illegal possession of a firearm, marking a culmination of efforts by law enforcement to neutralize the risk he posed, as mentioned by KOMO News.
