A tragic car accident has claimed the life of a Richmond Heights man after his SUV overturned in Medina County. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred on Interstate 76 in the village of Seville, where Paul Kinczel, 57, was driving a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Kinczel's vehicle veered off the right side of the highway and overturned, resulting in his ejection from the car and death at the scene. The WKYC detailed in their coverage that Kinczel was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The accident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. yesterday, as per an OSHP dispatcher. The involvement of multiple agencies, including the Medina County Sheriff’s Office and the Seville Police Department, were mobilized to swiftly respond to the tragic event, as informed by an Akron Beacon Journal article. It is still not clear what exactly caused Kinczel to lose control of the vehicle abruptly, but troopers continue to investigate the factors leading up to the fatal crash vigorously.
Authorities have not yet determined if other factors played a role in the accident, as it remains under strict investigation. The FOX8 News reported that the Medina County Coroner’s Office, along with Seville-Guilford EMS, also attended the scene alongside law enforcement. The Ohio State Highway Patrol has been providing updates as new information becomes available, urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
