Richmond Police have confirmed the arrest of a 22-year-old resident, Marlon Alexander Maravilla Martinez, facing a 16-count felony complaint related to sexual crimes against a child ten years old or younger. According to a press release by the Richmond Police Department, the incident was first reported last Tuesday when a Richmond PD sergeant was approached regarding a potentially ongoing sexual assault of a juvenile.

Responding immediately, Richmond officers were able to locate the young victim with the suspect. The situation came to a halt when officers, arriving unannounced and witnessing the suspect clad only in a towel, presumably interrupted the assault. "Officers quickly located the victim inside the residence and found out that the suspect was the male who answered the door," as revealed by the Richmond Police Department. Thanks to their rapid intervention, further abuse was stopped, and the victim was promptly rescued.

Following the initial response, the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office collaborated with the Richmond Police Special Victims Unit. Subsequently, Martinez was charged with multiple felonies and remains detained with bail set at $7,000,000.00. Working carefully with law enforcement, the DA's office is taking all necessary steps to ensure the accused faces the consequences of his grave actions.
