In a recent crackdown on internet crimes against children, the San José Police Department has made a notable arrest. Sherman Cater III, a 38-year-old para-educator working at a San José high school, has been taken into custody over charges related to child sexual abuse material (CSAM). According to the San José Police Department, an investigation conducted between November 2024 and January 2025 revealed that Cater was downloading and distributing CSAM from his Cupertino residence.
After detectives pinpointed Sherman Cater III as the suspect, they executed a search warrant at his home on January 28. The operation led to the recovery of devices laden with child sexual abuse material, resulting in Cater's immediate arrest and subsequent booking into the Santa Clara County Main Jail. As the school located in the 3500 block of Zanker Road became entwined in these disheartening events, it has conveyed its full cooperation with the ongoing investigation, the police reported.
