A hair-cutting appointment gone awry at a Santee salon has led to the arrest of a man on multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon. The San Diego Sheriff's Department confirmed the altercation last Wednesday at the Great Clips located at 9600 Mission Gorge Road just before 7:00 p.m.
Witnesses captured the melee on cell phone footage that has now circulated on social media. The footage showcases a man, identified as August Marriott (DOB 04/01/1997), lashing out at employees after being told he was late for his haircut. Marriott vented his displeasure during the incident by vandalizing the store and hurling shampoo bottles at the staff, as reported by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. In the process of his tirade, one employee sustained minor injuries.
Though Marriott had fled the scene when Sheriff's Deputies arrived, community members stepped in, providing tips that eventually led to his identification. The public's swift cooperation facilitated Marriott's apprehension in Chula Vista yesterday.
Now booked at the San Diego Central Jail, Marriott faces charges that go beyond assault with a deadly weapon; his misdemeanors include vandalism and a parole violation.
