The inclement winter weather has suspended residential garbage, recycling, and food/yard waste pickup today. Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) announced that, due to the conditions, services will be halted for the day. However, the SPU's North and South transfer stations will open later at 10 a.m. today.
Assuming road and weather conditions improve, the collection services will resume tomorrow with a revised schedule. Customers who were supposed to have their waste collected today will have their waste collected tomorrow. Consequently, all other residential services will experience a one-day delay throughout the week. Customers must make sure their containers are out by 7 a.m. to guarantee collection, according to the Seattle Public Utilities.
Seattle Public Utilities has guided those who may be impacted beyond the one-day delay. If your waste is not picked up by the end of the following day, you’re advised to set it out again on your next collection day. In a display of understanding for the inconvenience caused, the city stipulates that customers can set out twice their normal amount of waste at no additional charge on their next collection day for those who missed out this week.
