On Wednesday morning, a security check at the Chevron station on Highway 12 became a chase and an eventual arrest. A police officer, conducting a routine patrol, noticed a white pickup speeding out of the station's parking lot, its headlights off, around 3 AM. A shattered glass door to the gas station and confections littering the ground suggested that a burglary had taken place.
With swift action, the police officer pursued the pickup and conducted a traffic stop with assistance from another officer. The man driving the vehicle was detained without any further troubles. It wasn't Easter, but evidently, a certain "Candy Bandit" had already filled his basket, as officers discovered "dozens and dozens of candy bars and other snacks foods" in the vehicle along with a crowbar, as per the Sebastopol Police Department.
Sebastopol Police Department's Facebook post wryly announced the apprehension, saying, "Needless to say, it was a sweet arrest."
