Southern Utah University is gearing up for its third annual XR Southern Summit, a key conference dedicated to the forward surge of virtual, augmented, and extended reality technologies in education and broader industry spheres. Set on the university's campus, the event is marked on calendars for February 25th and 26th. Registrations were wrapped by February 17th, but the buzz for the imminent gathering holds steady.
The Summit culls together industry heavyweights and aficionados to hammer out discussions on the intersection of emerging XR technologies with learning and professional frameworks. "The Summit will feature expert panels, plenary speaking sessions, and engaging workshops to showcase how XR is revolutionizing both sectors," according to SUU News. Notably, the agenda flags a keynote from Kortney Harding, the visionary behind Friends with Holograms.
With a lineup of plenary speakers including Bea Rodriguez-Fransen, of ASU Next Lab, and Ben Naugton Rumbo, from Bodyswaps, the stage is set for cross-cutting conversations. Rodriguez-Fransen doubles as a Senior Futures Scholar, while Rumbo brings insights as a chief revenue officer at the intersection of tech and corporate scaling. Planned panels will host David Nelson, helming the Mixed Reality Research lab at the University of Southern California, and Brave Williams, from Husson University's iEX Center, both, along with seven faculty members from SUU, assuring an exchange of high-caliber expertise.
The XR Southern Summit has promised more than a glimpse into futuristic learning tools and industrial applications, it is a convergence spot, brimming with potential partnerships and pathways forged amid dialogues and demonstrations. "Industry leaders and enthusiasts will gather to explore how new technologies are transforming education and professional industries," as obtained by SUU News, flaunting a rare chance to witness first-person the vanguard of an ever-evolving technological landscape.
