Bostonians woke up to an unexpected dusting of snow this morning, quickly reminding the city that winter isn’t quite finished with us yet. According to NBC Boston, by the afternoon, any signs of the fleeting snowfall are expected to disappear as temperatures climb, bringing a slice of spring back into the day. The brief snow accumulations in northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, possibly leaving a coating to an inch of snow, are anticipated to be short-lived due to a warming trend that promises to melt away the morning's offerings.
While today's temperate reprieve won't last, "a small batch of colder air" will bring temperatures down tomorrow. This chilly air, accompanied by some wind, will make for a cooler day with some wind chill to consider, as reported by NBC Boston. But not all hope is lost for those yearning for more consistent spring-like weather, as nearly full sun is expected to assist in nudging temperatures back to the mid-40s.
The city won't have to wait long for the next bout of wintry precipitation. The National Weather Service forecasts that by Friday night, we're due for "a chance of snow after 8pm, mixing with rain after 3am." But as has been the pattern, high temperatures for the region are slated to return to the low 50s shortly thereafter.
This back-and-forth between the seasons is expected to continue into the weekend. Come Sunday, a "gusty northwest wind" will usher in much colder air, locking us into a chill through Monday, with morning temperatures potentially dropping into the low teens. However, NBC Boston predicts that we are to mount "a recovery to the 40s Tuesday, and 50s Wednesday as the next storm brings in wind, and rain."
