A somber discovery in Provo has culminated in an arrest following a month-long search for a missing Springville woman. After responding to a 911 call, Provo Police discovered a body in a shed behind an apartment complex, as reported by KJZZ. The victim was later identified as Lesa Hyde, who had been reported missing since January.
In connection with the case, Springville Police stated that 53-year-old Arthuro Carrion was taken into custody on suspicion of murder, as detailed by Herald Extra. Upon their arrival at the scene, officers found Carrion in the front yard of the apartment complex, behind which, were two locked sheds. It was upon a landlord's request that Carrion produced a key to one of the sheds that contained the deceased.
When Provo police questioned Carrion regarding the contents of the shed, he chillingly acknowledged the presence of a body inside. "A dead body," Carrion stated, as revealed in the probable cause statement, as mentioned by KUTV. The unsettlingly straightforward response led to his arrest and further investigation into the circumstances surrounding Hyde’s disappearance and death.
As the community grapples with this tragic incident, details regarding the cause of death and any evidence linking Carrion directly to the crime remain under investigation by local authorities. The ties between Carrion and the victim as former intimate partners cast an even more harrowing light on the case, perhaps, suggesting a domestic dimension to the ongoing proceeding. Further updates are expected as the Provo Police Department continues its inquiry into the unsettling events leading to Hyde's untimely demise.
