A St. Louis man with a prior felony conviction is looking at a minimum of 10 years in the slammer after a jury found him guilty on a flurry of drug and gun charges, according to a report from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Missouri. Antonio Dixson, 37, seemingly couldn't steer clear of trouble, having been busted not once but twice—first in December 2020 in Wentzville when a Glock fell from his waist and a loaded Taurus Judge was spotted bulging from his pocket, second in St. Louis in February 2021 when he was caught driving the wrong way and, again, was found toting illegal firearms and a cocktail of illicit drugs.
Yesterday's court outcome serves another blow to Dixson, whose rap sheet grew with this conviction for two counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, two counts of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count for having a defaced firearm; all this while a slew of law enforcement agencies, like the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Wentzville Police Department, and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, are making concerted efforts to curb gun violence through initiatives like Project Safe Neighborhoods.
The evidence presented in court shone a glaring spotlight on Dixson's apparent disregard for the law, with a cache of fentanyl, meth, PCP, and cocaine discovered alongside the firearms—adding weight to the already heavy charges. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jason Dunkel and Hal Goldsmith brought the hammer down in court, helping secure convictions that could lock Dixson away for a significant chunk of time, his sentencing is marked on the calendar for June 3.
