Following a targeted operation in Euclid, U.S. Marshals have captured Deshon Baker, a 24-year-old man implicated in the fatal shooting of another 24-year-old, Simajah Harris, in downtown Cleveland. The arrest was made this morning by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF), as reported by WKYC.
The December incident initially confounded Cleveland police, who responded to a call at the Frozen Daiquiri Bar & Restaurant but found no victim at the scene, according to Cleveland19. They later learned that Harris had been transported to MetroHealth Medical Center by private transportation, where he was later pronounced dead. A warrant for aggravated murder was issued following Baker's identification as a suspect.
Details provided by law enforcement officials and cited by FOX8 revealed that the altercation between Harris and Baker escalated, leading to Harris being shot multiple times. Baker's eventual apprehension occurred at a residence in the 27000 block of Sidney Drive.
Reflecting on the tragic incident's aftermath, the Frozen Daiquiri Bar communicated on social media that they would close their doors for the last time on January 18, a few weeks post-shooting, as noted by WKYC. Those with information about this case or other fugitives are encouraged to contact the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at 1-866-WANTED (1-866-492-6833).
