A shooting incident in the early hours of Saturday left three people wounded near the busy downtown area of 420 14th St NW. According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers were called to the scene around 1:47 a.m. where they found two male victims and one female victim, all alert and conscious despite their injuries. The individuals were quickly attended by EMS services and transported to the hospital for treatment. Atlanta PD's initial investigation suggests the violence stemmed from an altercation over a parking spot between the two men, culminating in the exchange of gunfire.
The dispute appeared to escalate rapidly with both men drawing their firearms leading to them shooting each other, and a female bystander was caught in the crossfire, sustaining a wound to the leg. Local investigators have been alerted and are actively working to determine who the primary aggressor(s) was in this chaotic scuffle; as of this moment, the names of the individuals involved have not been released to the public.
No arrests have been made thus far, and the identities of those involved remain withheld pending the ongoing investigation. Atlanta PD urges anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing clarity and justice to a situation that has once again underscored the fragility and volatility of peace in public spaces.
In the interim, hospital officials have not released the current conditions of the victims, but initial reports from the Atlanta Police Department asserted that they were alert and breathing at the time of transport, details on the prognosis of the victims remain scant.
