A hit-and-run incident involving a tractor-trailer and a silver passenger car has led to a series of charges against the truck driver, following a dangerous collision on an I-85 overpass in Gwinnett County. The Gwinnett County Police disclosed that the accident occurred when the tractor-trailer, trying to change lanes, hit the car on Pleasant Hill Road as it neared Venture Parkway, causing the car to spin uncontrollably in front of the truck.
The truck pushed the car through two intersections before stopping and then fled the scene, according to a news release from the Gwinnett County Police Department. Remarkably, the driver of the impacted car emerged uninjured from the incident and was able to call in to report the hit-and-run to authorities subsequently the police's Accident Investigation Unit was successful in locating the tractor-trailer and the individual responsible for the incident.
Christian Barrier, a 31-year-old Alabama resident, has been charged with multiple offenses including Hit and Run, Improper Lane Change, Reckless Driving, and Reckless Conduct, following his identification as the driver at fault. Barrier turned himself into the Gwinnett County Jail last Friday, which was a few days after the January 28 collision, as was reported by the Police Department.
